My work is an abstract expression of my internal emotions. I long to create a calming, peaceful, and meditative artwork. I seek to subtract.
However, deep within me is this undeniable chaos; revealing itself through stress, depression, anxiety, and frustration.
Throughout the year, I have noticed a common thread in the work I create; opposing, organic, and textured. I draw upon themes of catharsis, emotion, and vulnerability.
The process of feel and touch are prevalent within my practice. Being a kinaesthetic learner; the physical act of 'doing' through the use of touch comes naturally and helps me feel more connected to the materials. My works are often painted utilising fingers and hands, in lieu of traditional paint brushes.
There is power in the human experience of pain, of happiness, of sadness.
This is what connects us.
